This is so much more than a cottage - it's a private retreat that could be the home for the vacation of a lifetime. With a main 2200 sq ft cottage, and two guest cabins (one completely self-contained), this would suit an extended family or two smaller families perfectly. Your dog is welcome too, so read on to hear more about this great location.

Kennebec Lake is a well-kept secret. A 12km long lake with great fishing, canoeing and kayaking located just to the north of Highway 7, less than two hours from Ottawa, and just three from Toronto making it a perfect meeting spot for families sparated in the two ciites. It's close enough and easily accessible from both for a weekend or short break in the low season too.

What makes this so special beyond the private acreage and over 1000ft of waterfontage? Let's start with the main cottage. This is a bright space lit from the massive windows overlooking the walkway down to one of the docks. Well treed for summer cooling, the winter outlook is breathtaking, and in all seasons, the open plan kitchen, dining and living area gives plenty of space for the family to gather and connect. The kitchen is fully equipped for family catering and has easy access to the deck for the BBQ chef. The living room has comfortable couches and chairs and is enhanced by nature oriented artwork on the walls. The master bedroom with king bed; a room with a twin and a large bathroom with walk-in shower is also on the main floor.

Stairs lead to the lower level and a large family room with a 32' HD TV, DVD and gaming systems. This is a lovely room for relaxing, playing games and will no doubt keep the children entertained. The owners have provided a variety of board games too, The lower floor bedrooms have 2 doubles and a double with single bunk over giving great flexibility of accommodation in the cottage. A bathroom with soaker tub, and a laundry room completes the accommodation.

Two guest cabins offer more sleeping (and living space). The small log cabin has a comfortable queen bed, while the larger one is a self-contained cabin with a kitchenette, bathroom, sitting and dining area and a queen bed. This one also has a deck with a table and two chairs.

The two docks separated by several hundred feet of natural shoreline offer vantage points and seating areas for enjoying the lake at different times of the day. The breakfast dock is closer to the cottage; another dock also has cedar decks close by for sunbathing. The docks are connected by a delightful woodland walk. Other siting points are located around this very private location so it would be easy to get away from it all with a good book and a cold drink.

There is a small sand beach for wading. Within about 5 - 6 ft the lake bed becomes muddy so it is not ideal for swimming at this area. For the best swimming, take one of the three kayaks or canoe over to the island - a 10 minute paddle - and swim and dive from there. Take a picnic too, and make a lunch date of it! Rent a boat from the local marina for exploring the lake.

Beautiful Bon Echo Provincial Park is 50 minutes away and there is one day pass (for one car) included with the rental. Hike the Trans Canada Trail - just 10 minutes away) or visit the delightful local towns of Perth or Westport.

We think this is a spectacular place and one of the few you will find that has the privacy most people crave on a cottage vacation.
